Valamkaimaalai

Palm-leaf script on Nadar History - Valamkaimaalai

The Valamkaimaalai is an ancient palm-leaf text (also in copper plates as known to be preserved in some temples in south India), written in early Tamil in between 7th and 9th century A.D by a sage and warrior 'Enathi Nayanar'. This describes the history of Nadars almost from 2000 B.C of their various war triumphs all over India. This also describes the story of 'Saptha Matrikaas' and goddess 'Kaali' as depicted in many Hindu temples in India.

"The Dravidian Lineages - The Nadars Through The Ages", a book on the history of an ancient Dravidian community in India, known by more than 300 different names and scattered throughout India, presently cornered to the lower realms of social order as an effect of the long Indo-Aryan conflicts.
